Law in England: Private Clients
We regard private law as being about clients as individuals - it is about how your lives are lived with law as a backdrop: beyond notice, but always there.
The important transitions in life are marked by rituals and as it is true that the un-churched are "Hatched, Matched & Dispatched" by the clergy, it is similar with lawyers: we are there most often in times of stress when people:
- get together (cohabitation agreements/pre-nuptial settlements)
- move house (buying, selling or letting)
- split up (divorce/separation/unmarried property claims)
- contemplate the hereafter (wills & trusts)
- have somebody die (obtaining probate/letters of administration)
- change jobs (employment contracts/compromise agreements)
We know these are stressful occasions, even when they have a positive side, but providing appropriate legal advice at such times is the core of our private client work
