Law in the Community
The solicitors at Hedleys understand the role of the law in the wider community and are active volunteers in organisations where their skills can be used for the public benefit. This experience of voluntary service gives Hedleys an insight into how community groups, charities and the not-for-profit organisations fit into their communities and we work with them in various ways.
- Community Projects - if you are thinking of planning a community project and need guidance as to an appropriate legal framework, then we may be able to help
- Local democracy - we routinely advise parish and town councils and their individual councillors on a number of topics, including Standards Board problems and clerking issues
- Charities - we have experience in helping establish registered charities
- Schools - being involved in education can involve legal problems, whether the client is a governor, teacher, pupil or parent - we also understand about school re-organisations and enquiries
- Clubs - we find that members' clubs need help adjusting to changes in the law
- Public use of land - we have experience of resolving problems concerning common land, rights of way and community use of land - for example, cricket clubs playing on the village green
If your problem does not fall into those categories, do not despair! We have the flexibility of mind to look at similar problems without them fitting into neat boxes.
