Trusts
A trust is a legal document through which the ownership and benefit relating to assets can be split. Often assets can be placed in trust for somebody else, rather than being transfered.
In the same way that wills form part of estate planning in death, trusts can be used to prudently arrange your affairs in life. There may be a number of reasons to do this and we can help prepare the documents. Sometimes a trust is used simply to define the shares of ownership of co-owned property or to set out agreements as to how one owner should deal with the other in the event that they no longer wish to continue.
More complex trusts can be used for many purposes - for family assets, for establishing "not for profit" organisations or charities or as part of tax planning. Whichever your need, we have the expertise to plan trusts.
Powers of Attorney
Sometimes you may expect to be unable to deal with your affairs either for a short time or a longer period. If that may happen, then a Power of Attorney may be the solution. Powers can be for particular periods or purposes or they can be general.
The Court of Protection may need to be involved.
